Everyone is Welcome

Jim Ager Memorial is for Everybody
Although we certainly cater to the junior golfer, we are here for everyone. As I was growing up playing the Ager course - we didn't call it the Jim Ager Memorial, we called it the "Junior Course" and today many people still call it by that name, it still fits. Every year though several people ask me if adults are allowed to play at the Ager? The answer of course is yes they are, everyone is welcome here. We don't care what your age is or what your skill level is, everyone is welcome here at the Jim Ager Memorial. We have everyone from a PGA Professional to a 7 year old who has never played the game before.
The fact is that while we love our junior golfers and they make up half the rounds played here, they are only out of school each summer for about 3 months, and the course is open for 9 months, so we would love to get more of you adults down here. In fact we are going to have our first adult golf league here this year - a senior ladies group, and we want everyone to know there are plenty of open spaces for more adult golf here.
Just give us a call if you want to talk about forming a league or event, the Ager is a great place whether your a kid or a senior.

Sticks For Kids
|
|
|
Sticks for kids is a program that originated right here at the Ager golf course and has now spread to thousands of sites all around the world! Each year we take around 100 children who without this program would probably not have the opportunity to be exposed to the game of golf. Local PGA Professionals and amateur volunteers get together and put on a 3 day golf program for these children.

Updated League Information
We have extended the deadline to get your league applications in until Thursday, May 30th. Our plan to begin league play a week early this year didn't anticipate the crappy weather we have had so far this season. This also means delaying week one of league play until the week of June 3rd. We would like to ask you for your help in spreading this word if your reading this and know someone who is considering playing or has already signed up, please let them know.
Last year we conducted a few short rules clinics for the league players and we think it's important enough to continue these clinics this season. The rules of golf unfortunately are fairly complicated, but the ones we expect our junior players to know are far more simple. Getting the players to know the basics isn't that difficult: making sure they count all their strokes, knowing how to deal with a shot that goes into the creek that runs through the course or a ball in the bunker for example. We are thinking of doing a clinic for each league day and then begin play that day with a shotgun start is what we are looking into, that way your junior golfer doesn't have to wait an hour or longer for his or her tee time afterwards. We certainly would like some feedback from you on this idea.
Thank-You for your support of the Ager Junior Leagues!

FORE Program

The FORE Program - Applications Available!
We are very excited to announce a brand new program for the Lincoln City Golf Courses this year: the FORE program. The FORE program is sponsored by the Nebraska Golf Association and is partially made possible by the fact that the US Senior Open is coming to Nebraska this year. The core values of the program are responsibility, perserverence, and honesty, all values your junior golfer can take home from the golf course and that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives. FORE will make golf more affordable for your junior players during the months of June and July. To qualify a junior golfer must be between 7 and 17 years old and complete the application (look below for instructions on where to find). In a nutshell, your child will be able to play here at the Ager course for $3 and at our 18 hole course (Pioneers, Holmes, Mahoney, Highlands) for $4. That is a deal that can't be beat!
Here is a link to the Nebraska Golf Association Junior Golf page where you may print out a "FORE" Program application: http://www.nebgolf.org/juniorgolf_fore.html . You may also just pick one up in our pro-shop at the Ager.
Don't miss this great opportunity!
